Don Byron's Swift Boat @ The Stone 6/19/09

This was a great 1 hour and 40 min set at The Stone. They each caught me at different moments. I love Don Byron's clarinet and tenor. He's very talented. Ben Wittman had a bunch of cowbells attached in various areas of his kit. He was really great and I had a bunch of "aha" moments with him. Kermit had me really paying attention at parts. He's pretty unique while playing more straight ahead type music (sort of). I enjoyed Ralph in this. At first I was wondering what he was doing there, he's VERY straight ahead. Soon after, I was wondering how they could do it without him.

It was such a treat to get this ensemble in such an intimate setting. It's part of why I love the place so much. I'm so happy they gave us so much music in that one set.
